Unfortunately, NYCHA's change in the enhanced voucher policy has been rescinded (undone).
Therefore, in buildings leaving Mitchell-Lama that had Section 236 federal mortgage subsidies, tenants may apply for enhanced vouchers upon leaving Mitchell-Lama, but to qualify, must live in or move to an apartment appropriate to their family size and composition under federal law. The only exceptions are seniors or the disabled who have been living in the building for a long time, and whose family composition has not changed since the building left Mitchell-Lama.
