We are tenants in the 57,000 Mitchell-Lama rental units through out New York City. There are approximately 150,000 of us living in these apartments.
There are two major types (cooperative and rental) of Mitchell-Lama housing in the City of New York. We support affordable housing, and protection for tenants of all current and former Mitchell-Lamas (and all other tenants!) -- but this website focuses primarily on Mitchell-Lama rental units and those going into rent stabilization or enhanced vouchers -- and we're particularly concerned with Mitchell-Lamas built before 1974 as they get taken out of the Mitchell-Lama program and into rent stabilization.
You may find other information about later buildings in the FAQs section of this website.
We've created this website because Mitchell-Lama rental buildings are facing serious changes in the laws that affect us.
This website does not provide legal advice. If you have legal questions, please consult a lawyer specializing in Mitchell-Lama or housing law, such as one of the lawyers listed on this web site.
